  1. I have begun making my own basic mixes, such as hot chocolate, pancake mix, biscuit mix, along with my own spice mixes. I make my own steak seasoning, taco seasoning, french onion soup mix, & ranch dressing mix. I love doing it & they are so easy to make. It is ingredients you always have on hand.

  2. We bought a deep freezer in order to buy things in bulk and to minimize the number of trips into town. The nearest food shop is 4 miles away but the grocery store is seven.

  3. Great ideas!

A deep freezer is a good investment! You can buy in bulk when items are on sale - not to mention the time and gas saved by making fewer trips!

Spices and mixes can be expensive! It's great to be able to use what you have on hand.

Growing your own herbs can save a good amount of money, too! Fresh basil in the store is costly and sometimes hard to find. If you grow it yourself, you can have fresh basil all through the growing season. When harvest time is ending, simply dry what's left and use it during the off season! Besides, it smells wonderful and can be grown indoors our out!

Thanks for the comments! Keep them coming folks!
